• Local moves typically range from $300 to $1,500 depending on home size and hours required
• Long distance moves typically range from $1,500 to $5,000 or more for larger homes crossing multiple states
• Same-day moves tend to be priced similarly to local moves with an availability premium

Coastal Moving Services provides written estimates before any commitment is made, so you know the full cost upfront with no surprise charges on moving day.

For local moves, booking two to four weeks in advance is generally sufficient. For long distance moves, four to eight weeks ahead is recommended, particularly if your move falls between May and September, which is peak moving season across the United States.

If your timeline is urgent, our same-day moving service can often place a crew at your location within a few hours of your call, subject to availability in your area.

Yes. Every moving company in the Coastal Moving Services network is required to hold an active USDOT number for interstate moves and carry general liability insurance along with cargo coverage. We verify credentials before any mover is added to the network and review them on an ongoing basis.

For local moves, state licensing requirements vary. Our coordinators confirm that the assigned mover meets all applicable licensing standards for your specific state before the booking is confirmed.

A binding estimate guarantees the final price will not exceed the quoted amount, provided no additional services are requested on moving day. A non-binding estimate is based on the expected weight and services but may be adjusted if the actual weight or scope differs from the original assessment.

For long distance moves, we recommend requesting a binding or not-to-exceed estimate to protect against unexpected cost increases at delivery. Our coordinators can walk you through both options when preparing your quote.

Yes. When requesting a quote, let your coordinator know about any items that require special handling. Our network includes movers with experience in the following specialty categories:

All moves include basic Released Value Protection at no additional cost, which covers items at a rate of 60 cents per pound per article under federal regulations. For more comprehensive coverage, Full Value Protection is available and ensures the mover is responsible for the replacement value of any lost or damaged item.

If damage occurs during your move, contact your Coastal Moving Services coordinator immediately. We assist in documenting the claim and facilitating communication with the assigned moving company to reach a resolution as quickly as possible.

Yes. Storage-in-transit is available through many carriers in our network, allowing your belongings to be held securely at a warehouse facility until your destination is ready. Short-term storage of 30 to 90 days is most common, though longer arrangements can be accommodated depending on the carrier and location.

Let your coordinator know during the planning stage if storage may be needed. Arranging this in advance avoids last-minute complications and ensures your items are covered under the existing move agreement.
