7 Essential Tips to Help Make Your Move Seamless

In a highly optimized world, there’s no excuse not to game plan your moving process. Whether you’re moving into your first apartment or your fifth home, moving and packing can be overwhelming. Getting your entire life into just a few boxes can feel impossible at the beginning. Get your move streamlined so by that time when you’re done you’ll be a packing pro!

1. DO NOT SCHEDULE ANY OTHER TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS OR APPOINTMENTS DURING YOUR PICK-UP WINDOW! THIS IS ESSENTIAL!

2.Prepare for your immediate needs.

Use a large clear storage box instead of an ordinary cardboard box to hold box cutters, permanent markers, scissors, paper towels, and cleaning supplies that you might need immediately in your new home or for moving. Placing items in a clear bin differentiates them and makes them instantly recognizable.

3. Make a folder Be sure to keep all vital documents you may need access to such as IDs, birth certificates, passports, or anything else you might need in day-to-day life.

4. MARK AND LABEL EVERYTHING!
Make sure all of your boxes are labeled, indicating where they need to go in your new home. Differentiate boxes that contain valuables and those that need to be unpacked right away!

5. CREATE A ROOM BY ROOM INVENTORY
On a piece of paper, write down precisely how many boxes you have in the living room, kitchen, dining area, playroom, etc! This is great to make sure you received ALL YOUR ITEMS on the day of delivery as well as have a list of any additional items you may need to add onto the truck before the move.

6. STAGE ITEMS FOR MOVERS
This is in addition to tip number 4! Having everything marked and labeled helps the movers upon delivery to know which room to place and stage everything! This helps expedite the delivery process making it quick and easy to unbox your items!

7. PACK A 24 HOUR MOVING KIT!
With other essentials besides your clothes. It’s a great idea to include some healthy snacks, flashlights, and phone chargers. Don’t forget to include work laptops, medications, etc! Bring these with you and not onto the moving truck!
